About our name: Today, zahr (almond blossoms / زهر) are at the risk of extinction as a result of Israeli occupation. Almond blossoms used to be plentiful, particularly in Deir AlBalah, a town in the middle of the Gaza Strip. Palestinian Poet Mahmoud Darwish once wrote that:

If a writer were to compose a successful piece
